The first face pack released (see first post).

These are only original fixed INF faces, no custom stuff yet and no painted faces yet, face paint and maybe custom faces may follow in a second pack.
Camouflaged faces could take some bit more time, that's why I thought it is good to release what is finished allready.

That way the INF soldier is all the way "fixed", no to bright spot is there, gloves are black, face mask aswell, faces don't look oversaturated, etc.

In case of the G36K magazines you only see 15 bullets on each side, because the same texture is used for both sides and even then, you see only 9 of them when the magazine is in the weapon, because the rest of the magazine is hidden behind the magwell, but I guess those hidden 6 bullets still need to be seen when the magazine is dropped.

Actually, no.

One of the things I would like to do is to raise the weapon to check how many bullets are left, instead of displaying a text message.

Also, I think you see the other bullets anyway when sprinting and reloading, and you see them ofcourse when dropping the mag...

When you make these textures do you need all the same original texture (with all other elements on it, like the weapon parts, if any), but with each texture having just the magazine count modified?

Yes, no other way since ScriptedTextures crash ut ...

Btw, I think it would be cool if you could have both, the original INF and PSYTEX having own setting that are saved for each own. That way those who play on the unmodded XploD server and on the modded Co-op servers would have the original faces and camos saved for XploD and the custom camos and faces for PSYTEX. There would be no need to change the stuff everytime you switch servers.

I guess we could use a different InfiltrationUser.ini like with Infiltration.ini...

The texture of the FAL in the mod is the L1A1, but the one with wooden stock and grips. I heared soldiers could mod it fullauto, which was foridden, but we do not follow guidelines, don't we? Very Happy

Uhm, the L1A1 actually differs more from the standard FAL than being semi-auto only. L1A1 has a different charging handle to name one of the more obvious ones. So just changing the texture wouldn't technically be enough to call it a L1A1. As for a full auto mod, while I suppose it it possible, it's probably not too easy - at least you can't take the FAL standard parts since the L1A1 is not metric.

Damn, I'm forced to double post Sad

Anyway, my new love, err, computer arrived (think I'll call her Jade..) and I'm just in the progress of getting Inf onlineable (is that a word?) and since I'm not really seeing XploDs server in the menu - for strange reasons only COOP1&2 show up, everything else doesn't Confused , well it does on my old one.. - anyway, to get to the point which justifies a post in this topic, when I fire up the setup.bat of the PsyTex then I get the below error:
Code:

This entire directory can be safely deleted.

Please read the README file for further instructions/notes.

Press any key to continue...

I'm on Vista SP1 - Installation on my old XP SP3 worked fine, so I suppose this might be at least a contributing factor. Uhm, HELP please?!

It would seem that for some reason fork() doesn't work on Vista ... Security "feature"?
I have no idea why, a quick search turned up nothing, and to be honest I can't be bothered to find out ...
The code for sh.exe is here:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/bin/sh/

forkshell(), in jobs.c, not sure from which revision sh.exe was built, probably RELENG_4 or RELENG_5...

Manual installation intructions:

o Copy The directory PsyTex to your UT installation, I will assume it's C:\UnrealTournament\

o Copy all the .u files from the UT and INF system directory to C:\UnrealTournament\PsyTex\System, Don't overwrite any existing .u files.
If those files aren't present UT crashes (Yeah, I know) ... I guess you could also use symbolic links on Vista, but you'll have to find out how...

o Copy all .utx files from C:\UnrealTournament\Infiltration\Textures\Camos\ to C:\UnrealTournament\PsyTex\Infiltration\Textures\Camos\
Again, don't overwrite files.

That's it.

psytex.sh won't work either, so you'll have to do that manually to:

o Copy Infiltration.ini to Infiltration_psytex.ini

o Edit Infiltration_psytex.ini.

Find the line:
Paths=../Infiltration/System
And replace it with:
Paths=../PsyTex/System

Find the line:
Paths=../Infiltration/Textures/Camos
Reaplace it with:
Paths=../PsyTex/Textures/Camos

Note: Order matters with Path=, so keep it intact.

Now create a new shortcut, where -INI=Infiltration_psytex.ini

And you're fertig!

Thanks for the effort Carpetsmoker.

----------

The "FaceTex_P01" pack was updated to a "P01a" release. Reason are various optimizations and fixes. Next release will have camouflaged faces, promise.

Thanks Carpet, worked fine (as you might have noticed yesterday). The only point I did run into was a slight version mismatch after copying the *.u files - I think I did the UT and Inf directories out of order, think UT then Inf was the wrong way (if you don't overwrite files) - though I finally ended up copying UT u-files, then Inf, then Psytex - all with overwriting - and it worked.

As promised.

edit
I was on D3D.
Switching to software made the crashing go away. I'll try the same level some time with OGL too.

Hmm. I used whatever was in the CE.

I'm on the OGL driver now and it seems to be working OK. Someone said to try Chris' OGL driver so I'll do that.

I've got some problems with your packages:

First one:
There are two different cGear files in your packages. Which one should I take?
PsyTex-1.0\Textures\Camos\ INF_cGear.utx (03.07.2008 16:18, 701.981 Bytes)
CamoTex_1.3.rar\INF_cGear.utx (19.02.2008 22:13, 177.659 Bytes)

Second one:
My server crashes with message:
Code:

Join request: entry.unr?Name=XploD?Class=INF_Core.INFc_CHSoldier?team=0?Skin=INF_cCamos.GEN_GR_GermanF?Face=INF_cFaces.BuzzGEN_INFFuzz_White2?Voice=COMVoices2.INFv_VoiceEn6?OverrideClass=
Team 0
Login: XploD
Signal: SIGSEGV [segmentation fault]
Aborting.

That just happens if your camo pack is installed.

Do you have any idea what this could be?

Regards

The cGear file from PsyTex.
I updated the CamoTex download link, removed the old cGear.

Segmentation fault is a Linux thing, maybe the Linux guys know better.

I see it writes "INF_cCamos.GEN_GR_GermanF", which is the old INF Flecktarn camo file.
No idea why it does that, but just for testing sake, remove "INF_cCamosGermanF" from the "UT\Infiltration\Textures\Camos" folder and see if the problem remains.

It's called General Protection Fault on Windows. Beside that it's the same thing.

No, that doen't matter at all. It's the camo you select in the menu. Could be even one that doesn't exist on the server.

@xplod: there isn't anything meaningful in your log extract.
If you want help then always post the full log. Not just the last few lines.

I am playing around with server settings atm:

If I remove your texture packages from the ServerPackage statement, all is fine...

If I install just ServerPackages=INF_cFacesP01
The server runs, but doesn't use your faces package.
The log sais:
Code:

Failed to load 'INF_cFacesTWO': Can't find file for package 'INF_cFacesTWO'
Failed to load 'Texture INF_cFacesTWO.Face_Fuzz_White_Male1_Equiped': Can't find file for package 'INF_cFacesTWO'

(When connecting, the face is textured with any old face texture.)

If I install the camos in the serverpackage statement, the server crashes with message:
Code:

Join request: entry.unr?Name=XploD?Class=INF_Core.INFc_CHSoldier?Team=0?Skin=INF_cCamos.GEN_BL_SFBlackB?Face=IN\

Team 0
Login: XploD
Signal: SIGIOT [iot trap]

Exiting.

When I remove your camos from serverpackages and install Roadstrokers camo pack which contains the file INF_cFacesTWO, the server crashes on connect with message:
Code:

Join request: entry.unr?Name=XploD?Class=INF_Core.INFc_CHSoldier?Team=0?Skin=INF_cCamos.GEN_GR_GermanF?Face=INF_cFaces.HelmetGEN_002Strap_White9?Voice=COMVo\
ices2.INFv_VoiceEn6?OverrideClass=
Team 0

Signal: SIGSEGV [segmentation fault]
Aborting.
Exiting.
Name subsystem shut down
Allocation checking disabled

Changing the camos and faces to "old ones" didn't change the behavior. Using german flacktarn and Face White8 (e.g) didn't change anything...

It seems that a modified package you're using is missing on my server...

It might help if you would post the server's configuration file ...
